Faith Like a Child

My wife, Sarah, broke her pinky toe last week.  Then she gouged the underside of her other foot on a broken piece of wood flooring (we have an old house – and I’m fixing the problem area today).  So she’s limping around, ever-so-courageously, chasing our toddler and living normal life.  Our toddler, Kezzie, has clearly noticed that Mommy has some “ow-ees” on her feet.  So what does Kezzie do ALL DAY?

She prays.

And she’s only 2 years old.

She says, “Mommy….foot….Jesus….Ow-ee….Amen.”  Then she says it about 30 seconds later, then two minutes after that.  Sarah told me that she thinks Kezzie prayed for her about 40 times yesterday.

That is the faith of a child.  That’s the kind of faith we are commanded to have by Jesus himself.  Kezzie doesn’t think about the theology of healing and prayer.  She just prays because she cares about Mommy.

I believe God will answer according to His sovereign will, whether that involves relief/healing in the immediate or near future or a more natural course of proper medical care and the body healing itself.  Either way, God made the body and is ultimately in control.  And Kezzie is an example to us on how to surrender our desires and will over to His through prayer.
