Sarah and I have officially started our very first garden – ever. And we have absolutely no idea what we’re doing. I figure we can learn by trial and error and lots of phone calls to Grandma (who has a fabulous garden).
I had already cleared an area in the backyard and we have been composting our food scraps for the past several months. So I went to Home Depot the other day (for something else) and saw the garden vegetable seeds for sale. I went ahead and bought some packets that were OK to plant in our region in March (the options were limited). I got some spinach, some romaine lettuce, red peppers, red onions, and banana peppers (I like getting those on my subs at Subway). Sarah was a little scared of the thought of a garden full of banana peppers.
I sowed the seeds (again, no idea what I was doing), covered them up with a little composted soil, and I watered them this morning. I guess I’ll just keep at it and see what happens. How exciting!
