You Are Creative

I believe God made humans in His image (Genesis 1:27).  One the the defining characteristics of God is His creativity, primarily because He created the universe out of nothing (ex nihilo).  So clearly, part of our “imago dei” involves being creative beings.

I think one of the best ways to worship God and reflect His glory is to be creative in our everyday lives.

“But I’m not creative,” you say.

I disagree with you.  You have simply tucked your creativity away at some point in your life since childhood, probably because you tried something new and either you failed at it or people laughed at you or both.

Here’s why I think that is true:  When I speak to a group of adults, nobody wants to come up and help the juggler with a trick.  You adults don’t want to try anything new!  But when I ask a group of kids for a volunteer, 98% of them raise their hand in the air and beg to help me with my trick.

Today, go be creative.  Go be a kid.  Try something new and fresh.  Don’t fear failure or rejection.  You have to sift through the fear and rejection to discover the beautiful creation you are about to accomplish.  Edison falied a thousand times before finding that successful filament called the light bulb.

I believe your pursuit of creativity will bring glory to God.
